Yoga

Yoga is built on three main structures: exercise, breathing and relaxation. The word yoga means ‘union’ which occurs between the mind, body and spirit bringing all three into harmony. Gentle stretches and balancing help to develop strength and flexibility.

All the systems of the body are improved such as circulation, the glandular system, muscles, digestion, elimination, energy system, breathing and acquiring a quiet mind. Each pose has specific physical benefits that can be tailored to your own needs.

Yoga may help with osteoporosis, depression, muscular aches and pains, painful joints, chronic fatigue syndrome, SAD, menstrual problems, migraines, poor metabolism, breathing problems, poor balance, high/low blood pressure, sleeping problems, bad posture, back ache, scoliosis, restlessness, poor muscle strength and many more.

  • Osteoporosis – weight bearing exercises help to increase bone density.
  • Aches and pains – moving the joints gently within their own limit increases synovial fluid (lubrication around joint), improves cartilage, strengthens the spine, keeps pelvis stable and improves hip mobility.  Strengthens muscles, ligaments and tendons which helps to protect the joints, improves posture and increases flexibility.
  • Asthma and stress – Breathing techniques help with problems such as asthma and stress by learning to control and calm the  breathe. Strengthens the diaphragm.
  • Anxiety – guided visualisation and relaxation techniques relax the body and mind creating an inner stillness and letting go of any tension and stress that can be stored in the body. Learn to relax.  Creating a balance between the mind, body and spirit.
